K&N Cold-Air Intake for 2007-2010 Scion tC

Cold-Air Intake kits are always the best first mod to any car. If you own a Scion you already know there are several to choose from that range from inexpensive to a whole lot of cash. In the end the one you choose can be based on bling or based on horsepower gain. Sometimes it can be a happy compromise of both.

K&N has been known for their filters and more recently has moved into the premium intake system business. For the 2007-2010 Scion tC with the 2.4 liter engines, K&N offers their 69 series “Typhoon” intakes.

Looking pretty under hood the Scion tC system (part 69-8614TS) uses mandrel bent aluminum tubing with silver powder coat finish. It is not as highly polished looking as an Injen set up, but not as expensive either. K&N says this kit will add about 8hp to the Scion tC at about 5400rpm. You can also expect a healthy new dose of intake thrum to make your car sound a little meaner too.

And like all K&N kits, it comes with the company’s “million mile warranty” which is good as long as K&N happens to be in business. And that is likely to be forever. The kit is not 50 state-legal. So if you live in California or states that adopt their nutty laws on emissions you will have to use this product in the down low.
