Scion has tapped gearheads and aspiring auto stylists and designers in the United States military for its latest customization challenge. The “Battle of the Builds” will offer three teams of active military personnel a blank canvas Scion xB and a $15,000 budget.

One car will be selected the Grand Prize winner, and the winning team invited to the 2010 SEMA Show to showcase its modified xB in the Scion booth.

Proposals from the 25 semi-finalists are available to view on www.BattleOfTheBuilds.com and Scion is asking for military personnel and civilians alike to vote on their favorites. Voting will be open until June 30, and the three winning teams announced on July 6. Teams will have approximately 12 weeks to complete their build project.

During the voting and build phases, viewers can follow the program on Scion’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/scion) and at www.BattleOfTheBuilds.com.

“Scion knows and appreciates the job our military does every day,” says Jack Hollis, vice president of Scion. “Members of our military work as a team and have unmatched technical and mechanical skills. This contest is designed to let our service members showcase these talents in a fun and exciting way.”
