Polyphony Digital has released a video using its driving simulator Gran Turismo 5 to showcase the newest rendition of Toyota’s FT-86 II concept.
The video shows a CGI version of the FT-86 II concept drifting around a track and cruising through a city landscape. Although it’s just a virtual version of the car, users may get a good feel of how Toyota’s next-generation compact sports car will look and function.
Toyota unveiled the newest version of its FT-86 II concept last month at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show and the Japanese automaker plans to have it in production in 2012.
The FT-86 has a 2.0-liter Subaru four-cylinder boxer engine under the hood, with power being sent to the rear wheels. The compact sports car is set to go on sale in the U.S. next year and Toyota will most likely show off the production version this fall at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show. It will be branded in the U.S. as the Scion FR-S and will be priced around $25,000.
