Widely seen this week are the “spy” photos seen of the production version of the new Scion FR-S at the Nurburgring. Of course these are hardly spy photos in the ultimate sense as the race course in Germany is more than public and is lined by onlookers and photogs alike on any given day.
What the new photos and video do show is that the overall look and fell of the FR-S remains close in spirit to the concept cars we have been seeing and that Scion revealed in New York.
The predictable and expected noodling has come down on the production model in which the overly accentuated edges and features are filed down. Wheels and tires are a bit smaller, less protruding. The front and rear fascias are toned down as well, but retain the character lines we say in the concepts.
This example features a large wing that honestly looks more Subaru than Toyota/Scion. It will remain to be seen on which version of the new sports car this wind might actually be found on. But it does make a statement.
