Scion iQ Starts Arriving In December!

News has come this week that the new Scion iQ micro-car will finally begin arriving to America in December. Scion’s new answer to the Smart car was delayed in part due to the earthquake in Japan last March, but is now slated for a US launch.

The new Scion iQ will begin arriving in the western region states first including Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Once that rollout is underway the remainder of states will begin receiving the iQ.

The schedule brings the iQ to southern states in January 2012, eastern region in February and the mid-western states in March.

The iQ will retail for $15,995 including destination. It’s 1.3 liter engine and CVT only transmission option aren’t likely to make it a performance player, but it can achieve 36mpg city and 37 mpg highway.

While those numbers aren’t stellar in any category, the iQ will be virtually in a class by itself offering dense city residents a small easy car to park that brings a quirky sense of style. Better yet, unlike the Smart For Two, it is for four…with some semblance of a back seat.
