Atlanta Braves Vs New York Yankees

On Saturday night, during a baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves, a fan died after falling into the lower-level stands from the upper deck which was at the Turner Field.

In the seventh inning, his death was confirmed hours after the fall by the Lt. Charles Hampton of the Atlanta Police Department homicide unit.

Hampton confirmed that, “The man was in his early 60s and was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital. There was no immediate word on his identity pending notification of his next of kin”.

The fall immediately followed the introduction as a pinch hitter of Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. The game wasn’t delayed while the man was treated by the medical personnel for about 10 minutes. Before putting him on a backboard, they applied CPR.

There has been no suspect of foul play at this point by the police, Hamton said. He also added that, “No fans were hurt in the 200-level seats where the man fell from section 401, landing close to an area where players’ wives and families sit”.

All around the seats, there was blood on the concrete surface.

In eight seasons at Turner Field, this was the third fan death from a fall. Police cited alcohol as a reason after a man died. A fan’s death was considered as a suicide in 2013.

Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius saw the man fall, as he was standing on second base.

After the Yankees won 3-1, Gregorius said, “I was thinking about it the whole time. All I can say is my condolences to the family. It was right in front of the camera in the press box. He hit the wires.”

A said by Major League, it had been in contract with the Braves and has been monitoring the situation.

Adam Staudacher was returning with his girlfriend to their seats near where the fan unfortunately fell.

Staudacher said that there has been no movement from the fan after the fall.

He said, “There was a ton of kids right there. It was a disturbing scene. Disturbing doesn’t really go far enough”.

The team said in a statement, “The Atlanta Braves offer their deepest condolences to the family”.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said, “None of our family guys got hurt other than there were some young children there that got to see stuff that’s not real nice”.

Braves pitcher Matt Wisler said, “That’s terrible. You never want to hear something like that. We’re all in the dugout paying more attention to that than we were the game when it first happened.”

In section 201, about 10 rows of seats were blocked by Police and there was security tape around the area where the incident took place.
