Three people were wounded in an opened fire by an armed man on a high-speed train travelling from Amsterdam to Paris. He was then subdued by passengers, led by two Americans.

This incident was aired by the British network ITV, the footage of British passenger Chris Norman, one of the people who successfully brought the gunman down, describing the incident.

According to French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, in the incident that took place Friday night, three Americans, a French passenger and a British passenger showed their courage in the action to wrestle the man down to the ground and forcibly disarm him after he fired a weapon on the train.

Two people were wounded in the incident Friday night, a French-American dual national who was by chance hit by gunfire and an American Air Force serviceman who was unfortunately stabbed while intervening, as said by Cazeneuve.

The passengers involved U.S. serviceman got hurt in that incident, but his injuries are not life-threatening, as said by the Pentagon.

The suspect is a 26-year old Moroccan as said by French authorities.

At Arras, French Interior Minister Cazeneuve spoke that, about 115 miles north of Paris, the scene where the train was halted following the attack.

He was also quoted that the two American, that the gunman who was subdued by the 2 American were “particularly courageous and showed extreme bravery in extremely difficult circumstances.”

The assailant was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, Kalashnikov assault rifle and a knife.

As reported by French 24,

“Investigators from France’s special anti-terror police are leading the investigation into the attack, which occurred just before 6 pm local time.

“National railway operator SNCF said that all passengers had been evacuated and that police had secured the area.”

A White House official says President Obama has been briefed on the incident and wishes the wounded “speedy and full recoveries.”

“Echoing the statements of French authorities, the President expressed his profound gratitude for the courage and quick thinking of several passengers, including U.S. service members, who selflessly subdued the attacker. While the investigation into the attack is in its early stages, it is clear that their heroic actions may have prevented a far worse tragedy.”
