The Faith-based film “War Room”, punched down Zac Efron’s Drama based feature, “We Are Your Friends”. War Room started its weekend with $600K from 1,017 theaters while “We Are Friends” ended up making only $175K.

War Room was the No. 2 advance ticket seller behind Legendary’s Straight Outta Compton. Although Critics are not so wild about War Room but the film is doing pretty much enough to get the business running successfully. The movie was made for an estimated $3.5M.

Zac Efron’s “We Are Your Friends”, is expecting to make $9 million this weekend as it expands to 2,333 locations on Friday while War Room has been forecast for a launch in the $5 million range. Anyway, Legendary’s “Straight Outta Compton” is set to top the box office for the third consecutive weekend with roughly $15 million.

T.C. Stallings, who is playing a major role in the film says “There are many people out there — white and black — who stay with their families and work through their problems. They aren’t thugs or gang leaders. ’War Room’ tells the truth about society by showing the reverse of that stereotype. Racial tension is dangerous and people are dying and a lot of us want to see that stopped. We protest and speak out and tweet out, but this problem is much bigger than human beings. This movie will give people a way to take these problems to the Lord and show them that prayer is the best weapon to fight back.”

The film, War Room, is directed by Alex Kendrick and produced by his brother Stephen Kendrick. This is Kendrick brothers’ fifth film project. Flywheel (2003), Facing the Giants (2006), Fireproof (2008), and Courageous (2011) are other four films by Kendrick brothers’ produced under Sherwood Pictures. War Room is from their freshly created production house, Kendrick Brothers Productions, as they left Sherwood Pictures in 2013.

Alex Kendrick says, “We called it ‘War Room’ because, like the military, we should seek God for the right strategy before going into combat. By combat, I mean daily issues we face in our culture.”

The film is praised by The Christian Post. They called it better than Kendrick’s Courageous and Fireproof.

According to Crosswalk.com, “it comes as good news that War Room is a step up for the Kendricks, who continue to develop as filmmakers.”
